going fast on the inside whilst the outside is standing still
in portugal there is an international artists co-operative called fabrica. they come from portugal, zimbabwe, norway, spain, holland, england, sri lanka and scotland. they have occupied an old railway building within which there are workshops, a gallery space and a cafe. the activities there include exhibitions, installations, dance, theatrical & music events as well as readings and solo performances by artists of many different disciplines. our artists go there for short residencies to exchange ideas and produce new works and their artists come here to do the same. in this way we want to encourage trans-national cultural exchange and create an environment where all forms of art are explored, performed and dissected. no rules. a vibrant conversation that doesn't recognise geographical boundaries.
