QUEEN'S ELM ARTISTS
creating an artistic renaissance in chelsea

this is where we should give you our raison d’etre, but where to begin? Words seem inadequate when trying convey deeper motivations beyond the obvious.  we’re artists. we create. and the reasons for doing so are infinite. some interesting and some obscure.  we would like our work to stand naked and speak direct to anyone who happens upon it.  no explanation. no concepts. pure un-adulterated effect.  be it emotional or physical.  probably both, since it’s not clear where you separate the two.

much of the contemporary art scene involves a requirement that the artist provide an intellectual ‘proof’ for the work created.  without which the work doesn’t get taken very seriously.  (not that art has to be taken seriously either). certainly the figurative is practically despised. and woe betide you if you haven’t got a gallery behind you…or if you haven’t been to school…....and if you haven’t exhibited, ah well…...

this seems to us to be banal.

they are not the only criteria by which to judge art.

we are the schooled, the un-schooled, the experienced and the new. what matters is the work, not its provenance.  look at us. love what we do, hate it, be moved or not. just don’t expect explanations.

use your instincts
